First Resilience Forum in Georgia

“Bridge- Innovation and Development"(BRIDGE) together with Oxfam and "Black Sea Eco Academy" hosted First Resilience Forum in Batumi, event was supported by Batumi City Hall and  brought together policy makers, civil society organizations, key stakeholders and media representatives. The forum was organized within the framework “Supporting Community Resilience in the South Caucasus” programme Funded by  DG European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations “.

Forum participants discussed current issues about climate change adaptation, disaster risk reduction, livelihoods, environmental protection and other related disciplines in order to facilitate the exchange of the know-how and the best practices in Adjara, seek for synergies and opportunities of collaboration to strengthen the resilience of communities, authorities, environment and businesses The  event highlighted  the challenges in policy development, implementation and monitoring to strengthen the commitment of civil society, policy makers and key stakeholders in supporting community resilience.

Aforementioned  and forthcoming forums aim to contribute to the implementation of the key country and regional strategies – including the Adjara Climate Change Strategy and the DRR National Strategy – the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, raise awareness on global resilience goals when bringing them to the local and regional level and to advocate for and support to institutionalization and replication of the durable solutions and models developed so far.
