Gender and Food Security Conference

On March 29, at Holiday Inn Tbilisi local nongovernmental Organization Bridge – Innovation and Development with the support of Oxfam in Georgia organizeდ the conference: Gender and Food Security.
The attendees have been introduced to the gender-sensitive approaches to food security and nutrition and had the opportunity to learn about the barriers and economic needs of women farmers presented by the experts in this field.
The conference was attended by the representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia, the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health, international community and civil society, who are contributing to tackling food security and gender challenges in Georgia.

Discussion on existing challenges and opportunities took place in the framework of the conference in order to integrate gender sensitive perspectives and approaches into the food security policy-making process.

Food security, as a consistent social and economic system, is one of the most important parts of the agricultural policy aiming to ensure the access of the population to healthy and diverse food.
