Food Security Issues will be advocated by GAARD in the future
In September at Kachreti Oxfam Georgia hosted a 2 day workshop on discussing the Georgian Alliance on Agriculture and Rural Development (GAARD) concept notes, which will be attended by all GAARD members.
While the Food Security project ends in September 19, 2017, some of the advocacy priorities of the GAARD working groups were detected that have not been achieved and require sustained actions from the various stakeholders and the alliance members.
In order to support the sustainability of the advocacy efforts of the Project beyond closure, the 4 concept notes on the GAARD priority areas were developed, so that GAARD members can approach donors for fund raising in the future, thereby strengthening the alliance and the sustainability of the outcomes of the project.
The priority areas include: (a)Funding the core operations of the GAARD; (b) Adoption of Land Code in Georgia; (c) Sustaining the adoption and implementation of the Food security bill in Georgia; (d) Small-holder farmers and their inclusion into the public procurement system of food in Georgia). After the project closure, the respective alliance members will continue to further advocate the project priority areas thereby strengthening the alliance and the sustainability of the outcomes of the project.
